The Glasgow trams
Glasgow once boasted one of the nation's finest tram networks, potentially rivaling any cities .However, trolley buses and eventually motor buses replaced the beloved trams. On the tram system's farewell day, the city orchestrated a grand procession of 20 trams, journeying from the Dalmarnock depot to Coplawhill. A quarter of a million individuals from all corners of Scotland gathered to bid adieu to the tram system that had faithfully operated for nearly a century. In a poignant gesture, many laid pennies on the tracks as tokens to remember the cherished trams.
